At Pursuing Pawgress, we believe that every pet deserves to be happy and healthy. Our vision is to create a world where pets and their owners have strong, positive relationships based on trust and respect. Unfortunately, the dog training industry is unregulated and not all trainer styles are focused on mutual respect. While we hope you're ready to start training with us, here is a great resource on what to look for in your search for a dog trainer.

ABC Certified Dog Trainers understand how to teach new behaviors through luring, shaping, capturing or molding and have mastered the behavioral principles of operant conditioning. They have studied positive reinforcement dog training techniques as their primary training tool, which allows your dog to learn the desired behaviors while keeping that unique spark that makes your dog so special to you. Requirements for graduation include the extensive study of the scientific principles of how dogs learn, in addition to a hands-on externship with dog training professionals.
CPDT-KA certification recognizes the knowledge and experience of professional dog trainers. Certificants must provide references that attest to their work and pass a rigorous written exam that focuses on the science behind dog behavior and the application of training techniques. CPDT-KA certification provides an independent, scientifically valid measure of an individual's understanding of the field of dog training, including instruction skills, learning theory, ethology, equipment, and animal husbandry.
