Service Dogs and the Law
Service dog training and pricing is determined on an individual basis. Please message us for more details.
Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, an individual with a diagnosed disability has the right to train his/her own service dog. There is no national registration or certification for service dogs.
Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities.
The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person’s disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.

How We Can Help
Pursuing Pawgress Dog Training will help you find a dog that will be conducive to service work. We will then help with obedience training, public access training, and also task-training your dog to perform based on your disability, meeting the requirements of the ADA law.
Keep in mind that not all dogs are up for the work required to earn the title of "service dog". We take the dog's temperament and history into account prior to the start of training. Also, depending on the age of the dog when training begins, it can take a minimum of 6 months up to a couple of years for a dog to be comfortable with his job and to perform appropriately in public.
Service Dog training will incorporate AKC Canine Good Citizen testing and public access training in addition to task training.
